This is what I've been doing...

...for the last 2 months:

Now that the new site is up I can focus on our upcoming live album recording on Dec 8th. Weekly practices have already begun so you can expect the blog posts to come a bit more frequently as I update on the progress of the album.

Still here...just

Dear Blogworld,

sorry, I've been really crap at keeping this blog updated regularly. I'm in the process of starting a new worship focused blog that will be launching soon and hopefully that will be updated very regularly with thoughts, news, ideas etc on worship. That does mean that this incarnation of the blog will probably die off, but that's probably a good thing seeing as I never update anyway.

Just came back from a very relaxing holiday in the UK. Here are a couple of thoughts or things that I am loving right now (idea stolen from Ann Ong):

- England is extremely expensive and not good for my bank account

- English summer weather is very unpredictable

- In England you can buy a magazine about anything...I mean anything.

- Oasis Hong Kong Airlines. They have done very well and even play the Vine's album on their inspirational audio channel :)

- Harry Potter is ridiculously popular

- Brian Houston's podcast. Great sermons from a great preacher.

- Leeland: the sound of melodies

- Any books by Bill Bryson (particularly 'Notes from a big country')

- Worship Central. Had the privilege of meeting and spending time with Tim and Al..they are awesome guys with an amazing vision for worship.

Long time no blog

Dear Blogworld,

I apologise profusely for not blogging in so long. A lot has happened in the last few months, starting with the Matt Redman/Louie Giglio concert, which was amazing. Meeting and spending time with Matt was obviously a highlight for me, and it was refreshing to see that he is such a nice, down-to-earth guy. Louie was also fantastic, and he gave me a copy of his "Indescribable" DVD which if you really must see if you haven't seen it. Truly amazing! He's giving his indescribable talk at the Hillsong conference this year which will be an amazing experience...wish I was going.

On May 26th, my brother got married, and most of my extended family was back in HK for the wedding. The ceremony was really nice and was held at the Vine Centre. The reception was held at the excelsior hotel and was one of the best wedding parties I've been too. I wasn't even too nervous giving my best man speech this time (I cacked myself at Derek's). The best part for me was giving Ed and Fion a brand new iMac as a present, and to see the look on their faces as it was brought out.

Exciting news: We will be recording our next live worship album on December 8th, 2007. Mark the date down and start spreading the word. It's going to be better and bigger this time round. We have Pete Wallis and Andrew Crawford from Hillsong coming out again to help us record and produce this album. I can't wait.

But that's not all: we have been asked to host Delirious in Hong Kong on November 20th. How good is that?!? 2007 has been a landmark year for Hong Kong and Christian music: Reuben Morgan, Tim Hughes, Planetshakers, Matt Redman...and now Delirous! It's crazy, but God must be doing something in this city that is attracting the biggest names in Christian music here.

I'll sign off with a couple of photos. Me, Matt and Louie during their HK trip, and one of me and Ed at his wedding.

Matt Redman Live in HK

Dear Blogsters,

I am super excited because one of my heroes is coming to HK next week to lead worship. Matt Redman has written some amazing worship songs that are sung in churches all around the world. I've also read a couple of his books and his insight into worship is very deep and profound. He is someone that I have learnt so much from, but have never met, so it will be cool to finally meet him in person and to spend some time with him.

As if that wasn't enough, he is also bringing Louie Giglio with him. Louie is the founder of the Passion movement that ministers to college students in the US. He is a great speaker and I know he is going to bring a relevant message for Hong Kong.

The 8pm concert is sold out, but there are still tickets available for the 6pm concert. Call 25730793 for tickets.

NEEC 2007

Hello Blogfans,

The Vine band has just spent an amazing 4 days ministering to youth at NEEC (North England Easter Conference) in the UK. The conference was held at the Cefn Lea conference centre in Wales. It's been great to spend some time in the beautiful countryside, breathing the fresh air, and hanging out with loads of teenagers and seeing them getting passionate for God.

Over the 4 days, we led worship 5 times, gave 2 worship seminars, and Derek spoke 6 times. It was tiring but completely worth it. We were also blown away by the fact that most of the youth already knew our songs before we got here, so they were singing along from the first note.

Derek was exceptional, and shared some of the best messages that I have ever heard him give. It's truly awesome to see that God is moving all around the world and doing the same things in lives in the UK as he is doing in Hong Kong and China and everywhere.

Manchester

Dear Blogsters,

we are here in Manchester with the Vine Band. So far it's been awesome. The weather has been amazing for England, and we have met a ton of really nice people. It's quite surreal being in England, but only hanging out with Asians...we feel right at home.

So far we have eaten in a pub that was built in 1552, visited Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium, and eaten loads and loads of food. Jet lag is kicking in (I woke up at 4:30am this morning) and I'm starting to fade so I'll make this quick...

We are heading down to Wales tomorrow for the start of the conference. We will be leading 5 sets of worship in 3 days and Derek will be giving 6 different messages. We are really excited about what God is going to do in the youth in the next few days. Please pray for us as we minister here.

For some reason, every member of the team except Janice brought their laptop with them. That means there are 8 Macs on the trip with us...people think we are a crazy Mac church or something, and it's true. So here is a photo of a few of us on our computers tonight.
